Over ten 4 ball teams took part in the Plassey Charity Day organised by our President Richard Bloss. In addition to the main event there was a putting competition and also a chipping competition together with a raffle and scratch cards to raise funds. Big thanks go to Competition Secretary Wayne Harold for organising the team competition. The winners of the team event were the Dream Team comprising Wayne with sons Sean and Joel and Junior Vice Captain Cameron Meadows. When the golfers finished they were treated to hot dogs and onions with tomato or mustard sauce Yum! Yum! Tina Torrence and Liz Gavin spent most of the day slaving over hot steaming pots of bubbling sausages and onions so as to provide the hungry golfers with refreshments. After a brief presentation, members were then entertained by a disco and a great day was had by all. Over £400 was raised to be split between the President’s and Captain’s nominated charities. Massive thanks go to President Richard Bloss, who worked extremely hard, to put on this charity day. Thanks also go to all those who helped with the food, organising the putting and chipping competitions, selling raffle tickets and scratch cards, providing raffle prizes – and last but not least, to all those who took part, and made this day such a success.
Over 70 competitors took part in the Captain’s Day competition. The winner of the Senior’s 9 hole competition was our President Richard Bloss, with the oldest member of the Club, John Lloyd in the Runner up spot. Roy Corker took the main trophy (the Captain’s Cup) with nett 63 beating Alastair Biddle on count back. Diane Perry won the Ladies trophy; Luke Johnson the Junior trophy and Mark Deacon the Guests trophy. The formal presentation was held in a top of the range marquee at the Clubhouse. Captain Dave Lafferty presented the trophies and prizes. He thanked the Club committee, the catering and greens staff and everyone who took part for making this such a fantastic day, particularly his wife and Lady Captain Emma, who had worked tirelessly to make this such a success. Dave awarded the Club Member of the Year trophy to Peter Johnson – well done Peter! Competitors and partners then danced the night away to the Original Replica band.
