The grand opening of the newly refurbished Treetops bar now managed by Lola & David Whyke took place on 13th February 2015. Now serving our very own Plassey Bitter and has regular entertainment of Bingo, quizzes & live music evenings.
The Seniors held their annual Christmas dinner at the Plassey Restaurant. Awards to the competition winners were handed out by Alan Holland, our new Senior Captain. Vice Captain Ian Lockhart had to “sing for his supper” and deliver the after dinner speech – a witty ditty entitled “Miracles”. Alan thanked all those who had helped to make this a great night especially Cliff Green and Rob Northern. It was very pleasing to see Tina Vaughan and son, and also Eric Dudley-Smith at the dinner. All added to the festive spirit.
During the pre-Christmas winter months Jim Crocombe and John Evans ran the turkey trots. The objective was that the person with the best score over each weekend would receive a Xmas turkey, at the presentation evening, which was to be held at Plassey restaurant. Jim and John handed out the prizes. Special thanks go to Jim who did most of the organising of the competitions and also to Peter Cox for helping with the organisation of the dinner.
The annual Christmas Present competition was well supported with everyone in good spirits and Christmas cheer. All the players brought a wrapped Christmas present. The winner had first choice of the prizes, the runner up 2nd choice, third place 3rd choice, and so on. The player finishing last had no choice but may have got the best present as they were all wrapped. The winner of the competition was Dave Wickens with 27 pts from 12 holes. Dave is pictured selecting his present. Well done, Dave.
