A foursomes competition is where two players play as partners and use one ball. The partners play alternate shots off the tee and thereafter strike the ball alternately during the play of each hole. The winners of this competition were Wayne Harold and Barry Torrence with a score of 72 -8.5 = 63.5. and they will represent the Club in the 2016 Daily Mail Foursomes Regional Finals. The runners up were Baz Edwards and Phil Davies with 78-13= 65.
Over 70 competitors took part in the Captain’s Day competition. In the 18 hole competition on the Saturday in glorious sunshine Sean Harold took the main trophy (the Captain’s Cup) with a fantastic nett 59 beating John Bennett and Martin Edwards, who were second and third respectively, both with a nett 63. Jean Thompson won the Ladies trophy; Cameron Williams the Junior trophy and Dan Williams the Guests’ trophy. Unfortunately the Senior’s 9… hole competition had to be cancelled because of torrential rain on Friday morning. This will be re-arranged.
Lady Captain’s day was extremely well supported. The Senior’s 9 hole competition was held on the Friday, and the winner was new member Nicky Evans with 19 points with John Evans as runner up with 18 pts. On the Saturday, Diane Perry took the main trophy of the day, being the Lady Captain’s Cup, with 38 points from Runner up Jean Thompson with 30 points. Dave Wickens took the mens section with a cracking score of 40 points, with Pat Loughlin finishing runner up on 36 points. Sam Williams was the best guest with 36 points. Cameron Williams won the junior section with 19 points.
