The Club Championship was played last weekend. This was a medal competition played over 2 days but with a limit on who played on Day 2. The players with the best 12 gross, the best 12 nett and any player within 10 shots of the best gross on Day 1 (Saturday) played on Day 2 (Sunday). At the end of Day 2 the players with the lowest gross and nett scores were to be crowned Club Champion and Nett Club Champion respectively.
After the first day Peter Johnson was winning the gross with 77, closely followed by Barry Torrence on 78, and Wayne Harold on 80. These 3 players formed the last 3 ball on Day 2. At the start of Day 2 Wayne scored an eagle (2) on Hole 1 (Par 4) whereas Peter scored a 6. Thus from being 3 down Wayne was 1 up over Peter after the 1st hole. The final score was Wayne 153 and Peter 154. Peter scored a 6 on the 36th hole and this cost him the Championship. Barry Edwards took 2nd place in the nett with a total score of 141. Well done, Wayne and Peter and thanks for a super exciting day.
