The Club held its Club Day competition on 25 April. The object of these competitions is to raise funds to contribute to Club projects. The Seniors held their competition on the Friday and I will let you know the result in the next newsletter. The 18 hole competition was a medal competition and the winner was Vice Captain Ian Lockhart with a nett 63 beating Sharon Harold on count back. However Sharon hit her ball off the 1st tee and it went straight into a tree. Who put that tree there? We have received an official complaint from the wood pigeon, who was sitting in the tree at the time. Sharon decided to invoke Rule 28 -c, and under the penalty of one stroke, drop a ball within 2 club lengths of the spot where the ball lay, but no nearer the hole. If Sharon had not dropped a shot, she would have won the competition by one shot. Don’t we all love hard luck stories ? – that’s golf! – a game of “if only”.
