The Plassey Touring Caravan Park FAQ

Please find below a list of the most popular questions asked, and we hope that we have covered most topics. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us on (01978) 780 277. We would be delighted to answer any queries that you may have.

Q. Do I need to book at pitch prior to arrival?
Yes. We tend to become fully booked in advance for weekend stays, July & August and Bank Holiday periods. For other times (excluding Bank Holiday periods and July & August) there is usually plenty of space mid-week, but please still do call us to reserve a pitch.

Q. How do I book a pitch?
The easiest way is to call us on (01978) 780 277 - Reception is open to take bookings 9.00am until 8.00pm 7 days a week. We will check availability, calculate a cost of the holiday, and then take a deposit payment (see Booking Terms & Conditions) by Debit or Credit Card.

Visa  Mastercard  Maestro

Q. How many people do you allow in a Caravan / Motorhome / Tent?
We allow up to max. of 5 people aged 5 yrs and above per pitch, with one unit (caravan / motorhome / tent) per pitch. We do not allow more than one family to 'share' a pitch.

Q. What is the latest arrival time?
8.00pm is the latest time to arrive, but if this is a problem, please call to inform the Park staff so we can make special arrangements for you.

Q. Do you have Arrival / Departure times for staying on the Park?
Yes. At very busy times (all Bank Holiday periods, July & August), all arrivals must be after 2.00pm, and departures before 12.00 noon. For other periods of stay we are much more flexible - please ask the Park staff for details.

Q. Do you have any Special Offers, or other discounts?
Yes, we have two types of discount :-

# charged at Sun - Thu rates

£6.50 discount per night on Standard pitches Sunday - Thursday (as compared to weekend prices).
£7.50 discount per night on Deluxe pitches Sunday - Thursday (as compared to weekend prices).

Q. What is the difference between a Standard pitch and a Deluxe pitch?
A Standard pitch has an 16amp electric hook point, whilst a Deluxe pitch is a large hardstanding pitch with 16amp hook up, water tap, waste water disposal point, lighting, and Digital TV / Sky aerial plug-in point.

Q. Do you have hardstanding pitches, and can I reserve one?
We do have 16 hardstandings on Standard (of a total of 60) but you cannot pre-reserve a hardstanding Standard pitch - these are taken on a First Come rule. All 30 Deluxe pitches are hardstandings, and each pitch is also numbered - in most cases you can pre-allocate your preferred Deluxe pitch.

Q. Do you take group bookings?
We accept up a maximum of 3 families in a group booking, but we remind them of the strict 11.00pm late night noise policy which is enforced (see Park Rules). Please note that we cannot reserve pitches together prior to the group arriving, but suggest that the first to arrive (of the group), can select and the reserve the pitches for their friends.

Q. Do you have minimum night stay periods Bank Holidays and Peak times?
Yes, during our very busy periods we have the following minimum night stays:

These minimum night stays are dependent on which day you would like to arrive, so please call us to check.

Q. Do you have static caravans or other holiday accommodation?
We are currently have one holiday home for hire. For more information on this, please contact Della Brookshaw on 01978 780 785.

Q. What do I need to connect to the multi-service bollard on a Deluxe Pitch?
A standard 20 metre caravan electric cable (with 16amp BS4343 round pin connectors), 4 metres of waste water pipe and 4 metres of ½ inch water pipe to connect to a tap (Hozelock fittings to screw onto the ½ inch water tap). For the Digital TV / Satellite connections, a TV Coax cable of approx. 6 metres would usually be enough, though it does depend on the location of your TV Coax point on the caravan / Motorhome (note that TV Coax cables are available for hire from Reception if required).

Q. Do you allow dogs on your park?
Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome. The charge is £2.00 per night per dog, and we have provided a large dog exercise area for them (see Map). Elsewhere, dogs must be on a short lead at all times due to farm livestock in the surrounding fields, and any accidents need to be cleaned up quickly (dog bins sited around Park). Please also note that pets must never be left unattended.

Q. Are children allowed in the 'Treetops' Bar / Golf Clubhouse?
Children are allowed in - the Treetops Bar has a small children's area, and the Golf Clubhouse allows children into the conservatory (but not the main bar). For more details, please call the establishment to clarify this (see telephone details on Golf Course page or Craft Centre page for 'Treetops' Bar).

Q. Do you allow footballs, bicycles, skateboards and motorised scooters to be used on the Park?
No. Due to Health & Safety issues, we have had to stop the use of them on the Park. However there is still plenty of activities for children including an indoor heated Swimming Pool, Adventure Playground, Table Tennis, Badminton, Pool Tables, Arcade Machines, Nature Trail Walks, Golf, Fishing, Football / Cricket / Tennis / Baseball (all played with 100% foam sponge balls).

Q. When is the swimming pool open?
The heated indoor pool is open from 1st April - 31st October 2010, and the charge is £2.20 per person per session (under 2yr olds can swim for FREE). During peak times the pool has x4 swimming sessions per day, and mid week x3 sessions per day - the number does vary depending on how busy we are. Each swimming session is 1½ hours long.

Q. You have fishing ponds on site - what do I need to know?
Specially only for the customers staying at The Plassey, we have free of charge 5 Coarse fishing ponds. They are located approx. 10 minute walk from the caravan park (see Map), and are stocked with a mixture of Carp, Tench, Roach and Perch. Please note that anyone wanting to fish must have a current valid fishing licence, which can be purchased from most Post Offices.

Q. Do you have fishing tackle for hire / fishing bait available on site?
No, but park staff can direct you to shop in Wrexham (5 miles away) that do have equipment / bait available.

Q. Do you have a Restaurant on the Park?
Yes. We have a wide range of food outlets at The Plassey Leisure Park: from à la carte meals in the unique Shippon Restaurant, to light lunches & homemade teas available from the Stables Coffee Shop (open daily 10.30am - 5.00pm), to bar meals in the Golf Clubhouse.
