This was a Par 3 competition (apart from the 1st hole which was a Par 4 ) organised by Handicap Secretary Ben Mitchell with assistance from Competition Secretary Wayne Harold and Head Greenkeeper Jason Moody. The 1st hole was played as normal. However from the 2nd tee you aimed for the 6th green. After this you teed off on the 7th tee and aimed for the 5th green. Hence the name of the game – “Cross Country”. Ben designed the course with assistance from Wayne and produced the tee off marker boards on each tee . Ben also provided the specially designed cards which included information as to the tee and green for each hole, the yardage, par and stroke index. Brilliant organisation by Ben. Jason was on hand to provide advise as to how best to avoid causing damage to the existing tees. This superb format was enjoyed by everyone and is a must for next year.
